Ingredients

  • 1 cup apple juice or apple cider
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Add the apple juice or cider, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg to a small saucepan.
  • Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the brown sugar is completely dissolved.
  • Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally. The syrup should reduce and thicken slightly but remain easy to pour.
  • Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Allow the syrup to cool completely. It will thicken slightly more as it cools.
  • Transfer the cooled syrup to an airtight jar or container and refrigerate until ready to use.
