- 1 cup apple juice or apple cider
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Add the apple juice or cider, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg to a small saucepan.
Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the brown sugar is completely dissolved.
Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally. The syrup should reduce and thicken slightly but remain easy to pour.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
Allow the syrup to cool completely. It will thicken slightly more as it cools.
Transfer the cooled syrup to an airtight jar or container and refrigerate until ready to use.
