If you’ve checked out any of our other recent recipes, you know I’m on a bit of a kick about two things – coffee syrups and giving those coffee syrups a bakery style vibe. If you’re on board with me for those two things, you are going to fall in love with this blueberry cobbler simple syrup. It’s made with real blueberries and the same cake batter flavoring that we used in the sugar cookie simple syrup. This almost TOO simple for how good it is syrup is going to turn your everyday coffee into a cozy and delicious little bakery treat. It’s sweet, kinda nostalgic of my grandma’s kitchen, and tastes like a slice of homemade blueberry cobbler melted right into your cup.

If you’ve already tried our banana bread simple syrup, you know how magical these bakery-inspired syrups can be in coffee. This one brings that same homemade comfort — just with a burst of blueberry flavor.

Why You’ll Love This Blueberry Cobbler Coffee Syrup

• Made with real blueberries
• Elevated from a plain blueberry syrup with the perfect baked good taste
• Perfect for hot or iced coffee
• Better (and cheaper!) than store bought coffee syrups
• Makes your kitchen smell amazing

How to Make Blueberry Cobbler Simple Syrup

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ – 1 teaspoon cake batter flavoring
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional but recommended)

You can use fresh or frozen blueberries — both work great and no need to alter the recipe if you choose one over the other. I actually prefer frozen berries for this one, personally. The frozen berries will release more juice, which gives you that deep purple color that makes it undeniably blueberry.

Step By Step Instructions

Step 1: Simmer the Blueberries

In a small saucepan, combine blueberries, sugar, and water. Heat over medium heat and bring to a gentle simmer.

Let the mixture cook for about 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally. The blueberries will burst and release their juices.

Step 2: Mash and Strain

Lightly mash the blueberries with the back of a spoon to extract more flavor.

Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a heat-safe bowl or measuring cup. Press gently to get all the liquid out.

Discard the solids (or eat them on pancakes or ice cream!).

Step 3: Add Cake Batter Flavor

While the syrup is still warm, stir in the cake batter flavoring and vanilla extract.

Start with 1/2 teaspoon of cake batter flavor and taste. Add more if you want a stronger cobbler topping flavor.

Let the syrup cool completely before storing.

How to Use Blueberry Cobbler Syrup

This syrup is so versatile and works in so many drinks:

• Blueberry cobbler iced latte
• Blueberry cobbler cold foam
• Blueberry cobbler shaken espresso
• Drizzled into cold brew
• Mixed into homemade lemonade for a fun twist

Storage Tips

Store your blueberry cobbler simple syrup in a sealed glass jar or bottle in the refrigerator.

It will stay fresh for up to 2 weeks.

If you want it to last longer, you can add ½ teaspoon lemon juice as a natural preservative (mine never lasts that long though!).

Make It Even More Like Blueberry Cobbler

If you want to lean even harder into that cobbler flavor:

• Add a pinch of cinnamon
• Add a tiny pinch of salt to enhance the bakery notes
• Stir in a little almond extract (just a drop)
• Top your drink with crushed graham crackers

A Bakery Style Coffee at Home

There’s something about blueberry cobbler that feels nostalgic and comforting. Even though I’m not sure my grandma ever made blueberry cobbler it somehow still transports me to her kitchen table. Turning that flavor into a coffee syrup makes everyday mornings feel a little more special — without leaving the house. Enjoy!
