Gingerbread Cold Foam (Easy, Festive, and Perfect for Holiday Coffee!)

If you already made a batch of my homemade gingerbread syrup, you’re just one quick step away from the creamiest, coziest holiday cold foam. This Gingerbread Cold Foam is sweet, spiced, and feels like a cozy December morning—no matter what cup you pour it over.  It’s the perfect way to dress up iced coffee, cold brew, or even a simple glass of milk for the kids (my kids call any type of foamed beverage coffee and they LOVE having coffee time with me. This, Toasted Marshmallow, and Sugar Cookie are their favorites).
The best part? It takes two minutes and just a splash of your gingerbread syrup for some delicious holiday enjoyment. Even if it’s at 2am while you’re still wrapping (or last minute online buying) presents.
Why You’ll Love This Gingerbread Cold Foam
- Perfectly seasonal – warm gingerbread spices + creamy foam = holiday magic

- Customizable – make it as sweet or as spiced as you want
- Pairs beautifully with cold brew – the bold coffee balances the sweet syrup
- Kid friendly option – spoon it over chocolate milk or warm steamed milk
The Simple Science Behind Perfect Cold Foam
Cold foam works because of the balance between fat and protein—and that’s exactly why using both heavy cream and milk creates the ideal texture. Of course, you can just add it to milk (if you are, whole is definitely your best option, for the reasons listed below) but the balance of cream and milk is what’s going to get you the most similar texture and mouth feel to coffee shop cold foam.
- Heavy cream adds richness and traps tiny air bubbles thanks to its higher fat content, giving the foam its thick, velvety feel.
- Milk brings in proteins that act like little stabilizers. They create a web like system that helps the foam structure stay lifted and fluffy instead of collapsing.
Together, they create a foam that’s light, creamy, and stable – and it floats beautifully on top of iced coffee instead of sinking right in.
How to Make Gingerbread Cold Foam
Ingredients You’ll Need
- ¼ cup heavy cream
- 2 tbsp 2% or whole milk
- 1–2 tbsp gingerbread syrup (from our homemade recipe!)
- Optional: pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg for topping
Equipment
You can use a handheld frother, a milk frothing wand, or even a mason jar if you’re in a pinch. I prefer to use this electric frother because it gives me perfect cold foam with exceptionally minimal effort. Which is always one of my favorite things.
Step by Step Instructions
- Add the ingredients
Pour heavy cream, milk, and gingerbread syrup into a small glass or cup, or directly into your electric frother. - Froth until thick
Use a handheld frother to whip the mixture for 20–30 seconds, or until light and fluffy. If using a mason jar: shake vigorously for about 45 seconds. If using an electric frother: push the button. - Taste and adjust
Add more gingerbread syrup if you prefer a stronger gingerbread flavor. - Pour and enjoy
Spoon or pour the cold foam over iced coffee, cold brew, or even hot coffee. - Finish with spice
A dusting of cinnamon or nutmeg gives it the prettiest holiday touch.
Tips for the Best Cold Foam
- Use heavy cream — it’s what makes the foam rich and fluffy
- Don’t skip the milk — the extra proteins help the foam hold its shape
- For extra sweetness, drizzle gingerbread syrup inside your cup before adding ice and coffee
- Want it lighter? Swap heavy cream for half & half. You’ll still get the benefit of some of the fats to help create your stable foam, but it may not be as velvety.
Serving Ideas
Try pairing your Gingerbread Cold Foam with:
- Iced cold brew for a bold, balanced flavor
- An iced latte for a creamier drink
- Hot coffee (it melts into the most delicious gingerbread layer)
- A holiday mocha
- Chocolate or vanilla milk for a fun, kid friendly treat
Make It Ahead
Mix the cream, milk, and syrup together and store in the fridge for 2–3 days. Froth it fresh whenever you’re ready. Cold foam froths better so prepare for the best cold foam of your life this way!
