Looking for the cold foam that can take you through every season? This salted caramel cold foam is the perfect way to add creamy, sweet flavor to any drink and any season. Whether you’re topping a cold brew, iced latte, or even a chai or apple cider, this easy-to-make caramel cold foam is so, SO good and indulgent.

What Is Salted Caramel Cold Foam?

Cold foam is a chilled, frothy topping made by blending milk and cream until it becomes thick and airy. When you add a touch of caramel and sea salt, you get a sweet, buttery flavor that pairs perfectly with any iced drink. The result is perfection. If you’re not in the mood for caramely goodness, check out some of my other cold foam recipes – Toasted Marshmallow, Pumpkin Cream, Strawberry, and Maple are some favorites to start you out.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup cold milk (I always go for whole, but you can use 2%, skim, or even dairy-free alternatives like oat or almond)
  • 1–2 tablespoons heavy cream (this fat is what gives it the perfect dense foam – if you are okay with a little lighter foam, half and half is a good substitute)
  • 1 tablespoon caramel sauce (plus more to drizzle)
  • Pinch of sea salt (really enhances the caramel flavor)
  • Ice and your favorite iced beverage (coffee, cold brew, matcha, etc.)

Tools You’ll Need:

  • Milk frother (handheld or electric)
  • Jar with lid or a small blender (if you don’t have a frother)
  • Glass for serving

Instructions:

  1. Add your ingredients to a cup or jar.
Pour in the milk, cream, caramel sauce (if very thick, heat slightly first), and a pinch of salt. Mix to combine prior to aerating with the frother, or you’ll get caramel all over your frother.
  2. Froth until thick and fluffy.
Use a milk frother to whip the mixture for 15–30 seconds until it turns into a soft foam. I like the power of the electric frother for this recipe, I tend to get caramel settling out with the handheld. If you don’t have a frother, you can shake the mixture in a sealed jar.
  3. Pour over your favorite iced drink.
Fill a glass with ice and your iced coffee or cold brew. Pour or spoon the caramel cold foam on top and drizzle with extra caramel sauce if you want a little extra sweetness and style.
  4. Sip and enjoy!
Watch the foam swirl into your drink for a dreamy caramel moment with every sip.

Tips and Variations:

  • Make it dairy-free: Use oat milk and skip the heavy cream—oat milk froths beautifully and pairs well with caramel.
  • Turn it into dessert: Use it to top iced hot chocolate or even a milkshake!
  • Salted caramel vibe: Add a bit more sea salt and use salted caramel sauce for a sweet-salty flavor balance.

Pair It With:

  • Homemade vanilla cold brew
  • Iced Mocha (Gives turtle vibes!)
  • Iced chai latte
  • Cinnamon-spiced iced coffee
  • Caramel matcha latte (trust us—it works!)
  • Cold Apple Cider

This is a cold foam you’ve gotta try – and once you do, you’ll be hooked all year. I love it for fall drinks especially, but you can catch me sipping on a salted caramel cold foam topped turtle mocha or cold brew just about any time of year. Let me know in the comments how you enjoy this cold foam!
