Banana Bread Latte at Home

If you, like me, could eat an entire loaf of banana bread fresh from the oven, you’re going to be obsessed with this banana bread latte. It’s that perfect sweet and cozy baked good flavor, and surprisingly easy to make at home using my homemade banana bread coffee syrup. This is one of those drinks that feels extra special but is still totally doable on a regular weekday morning, which in turn makes you feel like a rockstar on a random Tuesday.
What Is a Banana Bread Latte?
A banana bread latte is a cozy coffee drink that combines espresso (or strong coffee), milk, and banana bread coffee syrup. The syrup gives it those classic banana bread notes – think ripe banana, warm bakery spices, and a hint of sweetness – without overpowering your coffee.
It’s similar in a way to a pumpkin spice latte or gingerbread latte, but softer and more comforting. It gives more of that year round sweetness than the cozy rich flavors that you only want seasonally (sorry pumpkin spice).  If you love bakery style coffee drinks, this one’s for you.
How to Make a Banana Bread Latte at Home
Ingredients You’ll Need
This recipe keeps things simple and flexible depending on what you have on hand.
- Espresso or strong brewed coffee
- Milk of choice (dairy or non-dairy both work beautifully)
- Banana bread coffee syrup
- Optional toppings: whipped cream, cinnamon, nutmeg, or banana bread cold foam
Step By Step Instructions
1. Brew your coffee
Brew 1–2 shots of espresso or about ½–¾ cup of strong coffee. If you don’t have an espresso machine, I’ve really been into the Nescafe Gold Espresso for a quick latte.
2. Heat and froth the milk
Warm your milk until steaming, then froth if desired. You can use a milk frother, handheld whisk, or even a jar with a lid. An electric frother/steamer makes this super easy. I love this one, but this is also a good budget option!
3. Sweeten with banana bread syrup
Add 1–2 tablespoons of banana bread coffee syrup to your mug, depending on how sweet you like your coffee.
4. Assemble the latte
Pour the espresso or coffee over the syrup, then top with steamed milk. Stir gently to combine.
5. Finish with toppings
Top with whipped cream if desired and sprinkle with cinnamon or nutmeg for that bakery style finish.
Iced Banana Bread Latte Option
This latte is just as good iced.
- Fill a glass with ice
- Add banana bread syrup
- Pour over cold brew or chilled coffee
- Finish with cold milk and top with cold foam
This is a great spring and summer alternative when you still want cozy flavor without the heat.
Make It Extra Cozy (Optional Add-Ins)
If you want to take this latte up a notch, try one of these:
- Banana bread cold foam for that extra banana bread flavor that makes this next level
- Oat milk for a naturally sweet, creamy texture
- A pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg for extra warmth
Why This Latte Works So Well
The banana bread syrup adds warmth and sweetness without making the coffee taste artificial (yuck to artificial banana flavor) or overly sugary. It pairs especially well with medium or dark roast coffee and creamy milk, making it a perfect cozy winter latte – or honestly, a year round comfort coffee.
Cozy Coffee Shop Flavor, Right at Home
This banana bread latte is one of those drinks that feels indulgent but is really so, so easy, especially if you’ve already got banana bread syrup on hand. It’s perfect for slow mornings, midmorning breaks, a (well deserved) naptime treat, or cozy afternoons when you want something special in your mug.
